With my experience in foodservice management and clinical dietetics I can provide clear advice for nutritional care for long-term aged care, both at an inidvidual and facility level.
I work throughout the Whanganui-Manawatu region or Nationally if requested to provide the following range of services:
For individual residents:
- Nutrition assessments and recommendations for residents at risk of malnutrition or who have chronic or acute disease
- Review of tube feeding regimes (PEG or nasogastric)
- Applications for Special Authorities and prescriptions for nutrition supplements
At a facility level:
- Menu audits - these are required 2 yearly for aged car facilities, this is completed using the Dietitians NZ 'Food service and Nutrition audit tool'
- Menu planning - updating or developing new menus to meet requirements and add variety
- Development of policy and systems for assessing, monitoring and managing malnutrition
- Providing policy and guidelines for managing residents who have diabetes, are overweight or underweight or who need texture modified diets (from both a kitchen and ward perspective)
- Staff training including:
- Food safety
- Malnutrition
- Nutritional needs for older people
- Management of diabetes in older people
- Texture modified diets and IDDSI standards
- Nutrition and dementia
- Nutrition and wound care
